Master

There are two master programs, one with thesis and the other without thesis. The admission of students was first realized in the spring semester of the 2015 - 2016 academic year,and the master program with thesis has accepted its first students in the fall semester of the 2016 - 2017 academic year. 

MASTER PROGRAM WITH THESIS IN MANAGEMENT

INTRODUCTION THE PROGRAM and ITS OBJECTIVES

        The primary purpose of this master program which is designated especially for individuals who aim to have an academic career in the related disciplines of management science is both to help students generate academic knowledge by carrying out scientific research and papers and to enable them to analyze and interpret this knowledge in order to create value added for and contribute to social welfare. Furthermore, it is also aimed to supply non-academic individuals with contemporary knowledge and skills in management fields that they could utilize in their existing career path or career plans. Candidate students are expected to meet the requirements of ALES (Academic and Graduate Studies Exam) and proficiency in a foreign language to apply for the program. The students who have been admitted to the program are also obliged to take a number of courses which are worth totally 21 credits at least before starting a thesis study. The program normally takes 4 semesters to complete and the language of instruction is Turkish. Subsequent to fulfilling course requirements, it is required for students to start a master thesis under the supervision of an academic advisor and eventually to successfully advocate it before a jury. The maximum duration allowed to graduate from the program is 6 semesters.

        Graduates of the program have the chance to start and pursue their academic career at universities and will qualify to apply for doctorate programs. They can also opt for working as a manager or a manager candidate in such departments as finance, accounting, auditing, quality assurance, marketing, production, public and customer relations, and human resources.  

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

Graduates of the program are expected to;

  1. Can review domestic and foreign knowledge sources and carry out a scientific research.
  2. Have sufficient knowledge of the fundamental stages of a scientific research and know enough about contemporary approaches and methods to be undertaken in these stages.
  3. Be able to prepare a research proposal and implement this proposal according to a functional research design that they have previously produced.
  4. Have a good command of basic quantitative decision-making techniques and can effectively use the software programs required by those techniques.
  5. Own the essential and up-to-date knowledge on relevant management issues.
  6. Can explain interactions between business operations and economic system and truly interpret the possible effects of those operations on general economy.
  7. Can specialize in such business areas as finance, accounting, organization, production and marketing.
  8. Be aware of connections among various business functions and foresee probable results of business decisions.
  9. Can effectively ascertain any problems in decision-making and implementation processes and solve those problems using relevant scientific approaches.
  10. Can prepare performance reports in accordance with available data and observations / measurements that they make to analyze and evaluate business operations.
  11. Can develop research and investment projects and then, technically and economically evaluate them. 
  12. Can integrate the relevant managerial theories and approaches for practical purposes.
  13. Be aware of and conscious about acting in concordance with general and vocational ethical rules.

MASTER PROGRAM WITHOUT THESIS IN MANAGEMENT (EXECUTIVE MBA)

INTRODUCTION THE PROGRAM and ITS OBJECTIVES

        The foremost objective of this master program is to enable students to become entrepreneurs and/or managers who can effectively follow and keep up with scientific developments and innovations in management science, can undertake current methods and techniques and are highly sensitive and respectful to social matters and ethical rules.  In this context, it is aimed to provide students with all fundamental and current knowledge related with every discipline management science in order to enable them to think and act as an executive in their working lives.

        There are no requirements regarding ALES and proficiency in a foreign language.  The language of instruction is Turkish and the program normally lasts for 3 semesters. Students are expected to prepare and successfully disseminate a project under the supervision of an academic advisor, subsequent to succeeding all required courses. They are obliged to take and complete a number of courses totally worth 30 credits, excluding the graduation project.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

The program graduates are supposed to;

  1. Have enough knowledge on at least one of the management disciplines.
  2. Know about connections and interactions among the basic business functions.
  3. Take an active role in collective teamwork and share information.
  4. Can analyze and solve the problems in their professional fields.
  5. Can assume responsibility and effectively use authority in academic or professional studies.
  6. Can develop and produce convenient plans and programs in accordance with the existing mission and vision statements.
  7. Can evaluate and argue business processes in a creative and critical manner.
  8. Can effectively use information technologies related with their areas of profession and review all literature in both Turkish and any foreign language.
  9. Be aware of academic and professional ethical rules and strain to act in concordance with them.
  10. Can provide innovative and creative proposals.
  11. Respect universal norms and values in the knowledge of social responsibility.
